The injection port and syringe filters are used in the production of ‘Airport Jars’. The jars allow you to sterilise grain-spawn in a sealed environment and then inject a liquid culture or spores through the self healing lid. The syringe filter is used for air exchange within the jar, allowing the mycelium to breathe whilst preventing any contamination from reaching the grain.
For the injection port, a hole of around 7mm is required and the filter requires a hole of around 8mm. Simply secure them in place with the silicone and allow them to set. You can use epoxy as is described in my post where I show you how to make them, however, in my experience with these jars it almost makes no difference, if you’re clumsy like me, you will defiantly accidentally knock the syringe filter off a few times. Just resecure it as and when this happens!

Please note – From time to time the silicone you receive may be different to the one shown in the picture. It may be a different colour or have a different temperature tolerance. Which ever silicone you receive it will be 100% fit for purpose.
